Telcos are hardly unique in being anxious over the future of their supply chains, as President Trump’s second term consolidates the long-term fracture that began around a year into his first with sanctions against China. These intensified and were largely sustained under President Biden’s administration, but the return of Trump has delivered a coup de grace with seismic implications for supply chains and sourcing around the world. The threatened imposition of draconian tariffs by Trump on China and other regions, even if these are partly for bargaining, will bring about a substantial realignment in sourcing and supply for all industries.
