Verizon may be backing away from content (see separate article), but many other operators are keen to follow AT&T’s example and acquire content assets in order to move up the mobile and multiplay value chains. One of these is Telia of Sweden, which has announced plans to buy Bonnier Broadcasting, owner of local content, streaming and broadcast assets. The deal is a tactical move by Telia to keep pace with Tele2, which is buying Com Hem, and Modern Times Group, which is splitting off its TV unit.
