If WiFi networks are really as good as the likes of the Wireless Broadband Alliance would have you believe, and that the convergence trend will continue apace such that cellular eventually becomes indistinguishable from WiFi, then Apple will shortly be able to cut the legs out from under the MNOs entirely. The logic behind this argument isn’t new, but if you had to bet on one company to do this, Apple would be the one.
