While 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), often based on millimeter wave (mmW) radios, was a focal point of the first wave of 5G deployments, most cellular FWA services still run on 4G, and these are still being expanded today. Even Verizon, the earliest deployer of 5G FWA, has announced that it will offer fixed broadband services to homes and offices in rural locations over its LTE network.
