While momentum has swung squarely behind the cellular version of V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communications technology, the WiFi alternative refuses to surrender without a fight in its US heartland. There are two versions of WiFi V2X, both based on the IEEE 802.11p amendment for automotive, DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communications), which has been deployed in the USA; and the ETSI ITS-G5 in Europe.
