M&A Google is acquiring part of HTC’s Vive VR engineering team, for $250 million, as it attempts to improve its nascent Android XR capabilities. This mirrors a 2017 acquihire that saw some 2,000 staff join Google from HTC, to bolster the Pixel devices division. This comes as Meta is expanding its RealityLabs devices into the sports-focused Oakley brand. Private networks specialist Boldyn Networks has acquired Smart Mobile Labs (SML), a German integrator, for an undisclosed sum.
