It’s very confusing when an advertising giant like ZenithOptimedia published this isolated fact, that it expects IPTV penetration to reach 91% in the Netherlands, but remain at 1% in Russia. All of the publications that simply repeated that claim without either a) checking it or b) trying to interpret it, put your hands up. Naughty boys. It cannot of course refer to the original meaning of IPTV, that of a paid Multicast service, since the penetration of IPTV in the Netherlands is well established, at around 800,000 now in terms of pay TV homes, and will grow to something like 2.8 million homes by 2017. So suggesting that it reaches 91% and given that there are 7.2 million TV homes…
