Rovi has launched its new Cloud Platform, which will power connected guides, as well as personalization and monetization systems. The new Personalized Discovery Solution combines voice-enabled interaction with a context-based predictive search and recommendation engine. The ‘new and open’ Cloud Platform has already secured development partnerships with set top makers Entone and Evolution Digital. The main aim of the connected guides and the Cloud Platform that supports them is to help pay TV operators transition the diverse range of legacy subscriber CPE to a ‘dynamic IP-based discovery experience.’ Entone and Evolution Digital will develop customized versions of the Rovi guides for use in their platforms, which include Digital Television Adapters, hybrid and pure IP set tops.
