The giant Japanese telco and cellco KDDI has selected Rovi’s G-Guide HTML to help its IPTV subscribers discover content on KDDI’s new Android TV-based IPTV set top which starts shipping this month. The KDDI set top is the first product to use Rovi’s G-Guide HTML for IPTV. The idea is to help viewers easily find and record TV programs by using their smartphones or tablets. Its picture-in-picture TV guide listing grid shows rich images, including program and cast photos. G-Guide HTML helps viewers to switch easily from one program to another and displays the connections between actors and programs and their interrelated associations.
