Belgian compression and image processing firm IntoPIX has been working on IP cores for FPGA and ASIC silicon, with a demo at this week’s Mobile World Congress showing how a 4K stream can be captured and sent with less than a second of latency. Using IntoPIX’s TicoXS JPEG XS codec and featuring 60 GHz transmitters from Japanese electronics maker Fujikura, which is also providing the wireless module plugged into the Xilinx board, as well as the mmWave small cells. Featuring beamforming, providing a claimed 1 Gbps of throughput at a range of 500 meters, each of these access points can support some thirty devices.
