While we have come to expect the usual multicast ABR sales pitch from French firm Broadpeak, particularly during sustainability discussions, a panel session this week led by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) had a few treasures in store. Faultline has known about British Telecom (BT) exploring the deployment of multicast ABR technology on set tops for some time, where BT’s owned and operated networks could benefit from delivery efficiencies, while OTT content delivery has long been pure a unicast ABR system.
