It’s finally here. The European Union inter-institutional negotiations over the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) have concluded this week with the European Council’s approval of the measures, which were given a thumbs up earlier this month by the European Parliament. These rules, which are in fact a second revision (also known as a recast) of the bloc’s EED first adopted in 2012 and updated in 2018, aim to enforce the EU’s goal of becoming fully climate neutral by 2050.
