One of the most comical aspects of carbon accounting is how incomparable the results spat out by different calculators are. We recall a Greening of Streaming member providing us with energy savings calculations based on models from Dimpact, the IEA, and The Shift Project, and the order of scale separating the three went into the hundreds. A reliable, unifying standard is critically lacking. On the production side, BAFTA’s carbon calculator albert appears something of a standard, being prevalent across the UK, and recognised across the pond by Canada’s CBC.
