Research firm Antenna’s latest State of Subscriptions for sports report has not unearthed any bombshell findings, but the report offers a comprehensive argument as to the value of sports in streaming. In two words: it’s working. US audiences are increasingly accessing live sports programming through streaming services, which is boosting subscriber numbers and crucially creating stickier offerings. Antenna explains that live sports has provided some of the largest instances of user acquisition, notably The Super Bowl for Paramount+ and then Peacock, as the graph below shows.
