As holidays are approaching, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given all of us a little treat. Laughter is essential to our wellbeing, and it seems the trade association keeps that at heart. The group released in coordination with the US National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (NIPRCC), and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), two sets of anti-piracy public service announcements, and the only words we could use to describe them are: “comically bad”. Essentially, they are reminiscent of the infamous “You wouldn’t steal a car” anti-piracy adverts that aired between 2004 and 2007, emblazoning the message “Piracy – it’s a crime” far and wide across screens of DVD viewers.
