Sci-fi-like “transparent” screens from Korean giants LG and Samsung have been on display at CES 2024. Prototypes have already pointed their noses at previous CES shows, and Samsung has been selling transparent LCDs since 2011. However, the two chaebols have sought to outdo themselves this year—Samsung wheeled out a brand-new transparent prototype, while LG has been grappling with productizing its wireless transparent OLED screen. Sticking with protypes, Samsung has teased the world’s first transparent MicroLED display.
