Conscious of its weak presence on the TV set side, InterDigital is attempting to grow hardware support for Advanced HDR by Technicolor, developed in coordination with Philips, with the resolution-enhancing technology now being rolled out in ATSC 3.0 channels. The NextGen TV ties are with Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which has upgraded to integrate ATSC 3.0 in its OTA broadcasting infrastructure, and has launched ATSC 3.0 services in over 40 markets, in an attempt to encourage adoption of the standard among neighboring and competing US broadcasters (see separate story in this issue for more on ATSC 3.0 from NAB 2024).
