A new points-based debates track – featuring timer, cowbell, and referee – was being tested at the Streaming Media NYC conference this week, under the new regime of program chair and host Evan Shapiro. Faultline caught a connected TV versus mobile debate, with two teams on either side of the fence making a case for which screen offers the most compelling and futureproof opportunities for advertisers. Part scripted and part unscripted, the shine is taken off with the debate clearly fixed to end in a tie – at 250 points apiece – as a fluffy metaphor for how the CTV and mobile ecosystems are symbiotic.
