It transpires that Accedo’s deal to merge with OTT platform provider Magine Pro, announced last week, was a smokescreen for a separate divestment deal by the Swedish TV app specialist. Hibox Systems, the OTT and IPTV middleware company with tentacles in hospitality and healthcare, is being sold by Accedo to Swedish IT firm Binero Group, for a fee of $8 million. Accedo acquired Hibox in early 2021, but the subsidiary was mostly left to its own devices, without the benefit of Accedo’s superior marketing.
