Richmond, Virginia based Cavalier Telephone has finally launched its IPTV service, claiming that it is rolling it out ahead of AT&T, and that it is the first in the US to use MPEG 4 Level 10 VC compression offering TV over a broadband connection. Over the past year the Cavalier system has been pre-announced via equipment contracts for DSLAMs from Zhone (its MALC range), a head end from Tut Systems (its Astria system), middleware and VoD servers from Kasenna, Encryptonite DRM from Secure Media, all running to Amino set tops.
