ABI Research has come up with an estimate that says that around three times as many mobile phones will have mobile TV by 2011, than any other research organization has predicted. ABI puts the figure at some 514 million subscribers worldwide, up from only 6.4 million at the end of 2005. The highest estimate was probably our own, which had 164 million multicast and broadcast handsets being used by 2011, and the ABI figure seems unfeasibly high. By 2011 there will be around 2.8 billion handsets in the market and this figure seems initially reasonable at 18% of the market.
