Rumors circulated during the Christmas break that Amazon is exploring an investment in Sinclair-owned Diamond Sports Group (DSG) and will distribute games from the regional sports network (RSN) giant, in a move that would fish DSG out of bankruptcy. Should Amazon go for this layup—facilitated by years of Sinclair screw-ups—this would be a major coup in cementing the SVoD giant as a serious player on the sports scene in the US, and equip it with a catalog increasingly similar to that of cable providers in their prime.
