Malaysian pay TV operator Astro is refurbishing its video technology stack for the Sooka streaming service—attacking the competitive APAC content market with renewed vigor some seven years after retiring two of its direct-to-consumer streaming services. Astro hopes to learn from past mistakes with a mix of new technology suppliers, alongside some that have been supporting Astro’s video stack for years—including Irdeto, Bitmovin, Broadpeak, To The New (TTN), and ThinkAnalytics.
