French encoding specialist Ateme has jumped onto the bandwagon of Apple’s $3500 Vision Pro, announcing that its Titan encoders can deliver stereoscopic 3D content for spatial computing on the mixed reality headset. This was enabled by Ateme’s Gen 7 compression engine supporting the MV-HEVC standard, the multiview extension of HEVC which allows encoding for spatial video, used by Apple on its headset and latest generation of mobile devices. Although Ateme specifically only refers to Apple’s headset, there is reason to believe this could just as well apply to Meta devices.
