DAZN to spend big in bid to be first premium global sports streamer

Sports streamer DAZN, notable as one of the UK’s top tech startups, is at last going to launch in its domestic market as part of a big global expansion from 9 to 200 countries. This represents a major escalation in its stated ambition to become the Netflix of live sports, where its major competitors are Disney’s ESPN and possibly the big digital giants Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google. There is also a looming threat from the sports leagues themselves going D2C (Direct to Consumer), although that is not imminent.
