One of the deals we just missed in last week’s issue was Lattice Semiconductor buying out Silicon Image, the HDMI and Wireless HDMI specialist which also has interests in 60 GHz WiGig. Lattice offers mostly FPGA solutions, ranging from cameras and wearables; to small cell SOCs, and Industrial and Automotive chips, and it competed with Silicon Image on HDMI. The deal cost around $600 million, but $450 million net of Silicon Image’s cash. Lattice annual revenues were $366.1 million, up 10%. And its cash holdings $250 million, so it will take on $350 million of financing to close the deal – leaving it with $150 million still in the bank. This is an attempt to find scale and cost cuts…
