Hoping to appease the regulatory dragon that is the European Union, both TikTok and Meta have announced fundamental changes to the way that their users receive personalized content. While Meta’s concession is a long overdue U-turn in line with GDPR, TikTok’s move keeps it one step ahead of sanctions from the upcoming Digital Services Act (DSA).
