In November last year Sky in the UK launched its Sky Q range of set tops and DVRs, including two boxes for the main TV set, both featuring up to 12 tuners and up to 2TB of storage. We reminded everyone at the time that only two chip providers – Broadcom and MaxLinear offer the full band capture required to do this at the semiconductor level, and at CES this week MaxLinear has claimed the contract, telling the world it is its’ MxL5x2 component in these boxes.
