Now that Paramount Global and Skydance have been given the greenlight to merge (see last week’s coverage), inevitably rumors have resurfaced about Paramount+ exploring some sort of joint venture with Peacock. If the two US streaming heavyweights were to merge, it would reshape the streaming landscape on both sides of the Atlantic. But as the two already effectively have a joint venture in Europe with SkyShowtime, it makes sense to build on this foundation to expand reach overseas, while also pooling resources to grow profitability in the US market.
