Tandberg Television, one of the leading head end builders for the pay TV market this week bought SkyStream Networks, the Californian specialist in IPTV head ends. The deal is worth $80 million and may signal a rapid consolidation among IPTV equipment companies that was triggered when Motorola moved for Kreatel last week. SkyStream is said to be the industry’s fastest-growing provider of IPTV infrastructure with over 300 customers worldwide, and yet it employs just 100 people in the US, the UK, China and Korea, and had revenues of $30.7 million last year.
