UK investment firm Zegona Communications signaled a possible transaction on its website this week, with its Telecable cable and MVNO business likely to be acquired by Euskaltel to create a fourth quad play in the Spanish market, albeit the smallest by quite a margin. Spain is dominated by Telefonica with both Vodafone, who acquired cable operator Ono, and Orange, who bought fiber and mobile operator Jazztel, trying to make ground on the market leader and all three of them investing rapidly in fiber both for the home and for cellular backhaul.
