At the “Future of Video Compression ITU/ISO” workshop held in Geneva earlier this month, approximately 600 participants gathered both onsite and remotely to discuss the future of video compression, specifically H.267/MPEG Next, the successor to VVC. Faultline was represented by its codec expert, Thierry Fautier. In a previous piece on H.267, we covered the progress of the H.267 ECM (Enhanced Compression Model), while this article focuses on the requirements shared by Samsung, Amazon, China Mobile, and MainConcept, as well as the ensuing discussions.
