Industry confidence in Nielsen’s measurement capabilities has taken quite the pounding this year, not least from the pages of Faultline. Both the Upfronts and the Newfronts saw the measurement giant battered by multiple consortiums for what many regarded to be lackluster attribution data. Clearly buckling under the pressure, Nielsen has acquired French attribution firm TVTY for an undisclosed amount to enhance its own measurement and intel offerings. TVTY’s proprietary technologies might fill a few of the gaping holes in Nielsen’s methodology that were exposed earlier this year, although you would not guess it from the incredibly guarded press release that announced the acquisition.
