Swedish caching specialist Varnish Software has granted Faultline an exclusive sneak-peek at its 2024 roadmap and beyond. One key detail is that Varnish Software will seek support of external programming languages in its flagship Varnish Configuration Language (VCL). We had seen the writing on the wall, after reporting last year that CDN giant and VCL fanatic Fastly had stopped exclusively running its cache policies on the programming language, arguing support for other languages allows capabilities that VCL on its own cannot enable.
