Last week, as part of our regular “Five years ago this week” feature, we revisited the technology suppliers behind the launch of Vidgo, after the October 2020 rebirth of the company from vMVPD to sports-focused video streaming platform. Belatedly, we have since learned that some of the vendors initially claiming a victory at Vidgo were not up to scratch. Unfortunately, technical mismatches were not the only problems plaguing Vidgo, and the platform is now dead, with its assets and IP up for sale. A representative informed Faultline that Ateme and Imagine Communications should both be scrubbed from the history books, as neither company was able to deliver what Vidgo needed.
