Widevine, Kreatel and Dreampark land Danish IPTV deal

Widevine Technologies has another win for its IPTV DRM system Cypher with the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC), for its IPTV uplink and downlink service, Stockholm Teleport.

SSC distributes broadcast and VOD content across its satellite and broadband network to downstream operators, including Scandinavia’s FastTV.

SSC provides IPTV playout services to city and regional networks across Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Alongside Widevine’s DRM, FastTV has implemented middleware from Dreampark, with Kreatel set-top boxes.

SSC said it bought a DRM so that its downstream customer services are free to acquire and license premium Hollywood content. Without it, they would be cut out from such content as the MPAA members makes their rules tighter and tighter.

FastTV just announced that Denmark’s largest energy company Nesa has signed an operator agreement to offer their fiber customers access to FastTV’s. These will get 50 TV channels and a Video on Demand list of 600 films. Set top box maker Kreatel has just been acquired by Motorola two weeks ago.
