For the past three years we have been hearing two vastly contradictory statements about WiMAX and video. Firstly that it can provide a triple play and secondly that no-one has ever tried it. Which is perhaps why one of the first questions we get at conferences is ‘How will we send video over WiMAX?’ to make a triple play. We published earlier this year the leaked fact that only one installation has tried this and that it achieved a TV multicast using IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) to reliably deliver 20 Mbps of video working in just a 10 MHz licensed channel.
