The RDK (Reference Design Kit) introduced by Comcast and Time Warner Cable as an internal vehicle for IP migration, has gained momentum rapidly and is on course to becoming a standard software platform for IP set tops and gateways. Latest to join is Swedish TV software developer Accedo Broadband, which sees an opportunity to set up pole position as an app store for the platform now that RDK looks like defining a multivendor ecosystem for TV, one you might compare with the open source Linux operating environment or to an extent Google’s Android for mobile devices.
