The rush to OTT has been entering a new chapter led by the US as major online providers compete to acquire premium content for linear broadcasting. Hulu has raised the stakes with plans for an extended subscription service including several leading broadcast channels for launch early in 2017. Of course Hulu is not alone among the big OTT players in plotting the next move towards linear broadcasting in some form, with Internet giants like Google and Apple, as well as other major SVoD providers like Amazon, all heading in the same direction.
