Here’s the logic that has been doing the rounds lately over the new direction that Hulu is taking. In order to survive, Hulu must yield in distribution fees to its suppliers, just as much as every other OTT service out there, and in order for Hulu to be competitive it will need Sports rights as well as all the major broadcast channels. That would lead to Hulu having to charge $40 and that in turn would make it unpalatable to most of the US public. This type of argument soon becomes circular. But this is the thinking of US financial analysts and quite clearly they still haven’t factored in the fact that at some point Hulu must go overseas, so…
