If Liberty Global CEO Mike Fries is having as much trouble interpreting Liberty Global’s results as we did this week, we would not be at all surprised. He talks about gains in Europe at Virgin in the UK and in Germany, and then we see a complete absence of ARPU growth, just as mobile revenue falls due to intense competition, taking away much of what it delivered in fixed line subscriber numbers. His old stomping ground of the Netherlands, in the merger that is VodafoneZiggo is also having troubles – with no benefits as yet from quad play offers.
