Years of metadata refinement and the emergence of companies claiming to have “solved” metadata—for the purpose of improved content discovery—has manifested in two specialists tying the knot. Denmark-based Simply.TV, founded in 2019 by two former Gracenote executives, has acquired veteran Nordic rival InFlow Media, established back in 1988. Days after breaking news of the acquisition, Simply.TV announced a landmark deal for deployment of its next-generation metadata system at Nordic pay TV operator giant Allente – introducing new content discovery features to the platform.
