From a 110-person outfit to a headcount of just 42, Stockholm-based Magine Pro has undergone a significant transformation since cutting loose its direct-to-consumer streaming TV business in 2018, which involved migrating subscribers over to Zattoo’s TV platform. Suggestions that Zattoo’s D2C business is fated for a similar death were swatted away at IBC 2024, although the momentum is most definitely with Zattoo’s B2B offerings. In a roundabout way, Magine Pro and Zattoo look more like rivals today than in 2018 – a result in part of industry consolidation squeezing TV platform vendors closer together.
