Alcatel has been quick to point out that it has also made money on the KPN deal, which went to primary contractor Siemens to build IPTV for the Netherlands-based incumbent telco. The Siemens deal was announced last month, and will involve a rush to bring IPTV to its network between now and the end of the year. Alcatel announced this week that it will reap much of the network upgrade business. The contract involves upgrading the DSLAMs to ADSL2+ connections on 1.3m DSL lines and much of the work should be done by the end of the fourth quarter.
