The Technicolor set top business now known as Vantiva Connected Home is acquiring the former Arris set top business known as CommScope Home Networks – apparently forming a $3.6 billion annual revenue monster. Crucially, as part of the transaction, CommScope will take a 25% stake in the newly-merged CPE company – belatedly but not entirely washing its hands of TV technologies. Before we get to the meat of the deal, the first thing to point out is the misleading inclusion of this mouthwatering headline figure in the official announcement.
