Mexican cable operator izzi has welcomed a swathe of vendor suppliers into its arms with what claims to be the world’s first hybrid DVB/OTT Android TV Operator Tier platform. In doing so, it looks like a missed opportunity for Arris/CommScope, which has been izzi’s main set top supplier for a number of years. However, the more important issue here is that Spanish software developer Mirada, which has taken charge of the project, has ruffled the feathers of rival vendors in the Android TV ecosystem with delusions of delivering a hybrid world first.
