AT&T TV retirement plan met with groans

DirecTV’s demise has been a long time coming but the question now is whether the AT&T-owned video business will be gradually deconstructed or brutally demolished? DirecTV took an important step down the former path this week with the country-wide rollout of AT&T TV – the Android TV-based pseudo-satellite service. AT&T TV has been available in select markets since Q4, serving as an eventual replacement for DirecTV services. AT&T has therefore kept AT&T TV as close to a traditional cable or satellite TV offering without disrupting the status quo.
