The difference in Covid-19 recovery between the US and China has been highlighted this week, by the opening weekend for a new Russel Crowe picture. Unhinged scored $4 million in the US, across 1,823 theaters, in what The Hollywood Reporter is calling a ‘win.’ However, it made double that from its overseas takings, which illustrates how troubled the US market remains. Over in China, The Eight Hundred hit $112 million on its opening weekend, and the gap shows how far the US has to go to reach Chinese recovery levels, and also how far the collective industry has fallen in the pandemic.
