Apple’s expansion into in-house silicon is about to hit its wireless chips, according to industry rumors. This is to the detriment of Broadcom, which has seen its share price tumble on the news, and Apple is apparently designing a single chip to handle Bluetooth, WiFi, and cellular connections. Apple and Qualcomm have had a tense relationship, these past few years. Apple’s attempts to escape Qualcomm’s clutches led it to a deal with Intel, which ended in significantly worse performance using the upstart modem, and egg on Apple’s face.
