CDN specialist Broadpeak has announced that it has completed the first trial of its new Cache Orchestrator offering, which is specifically aimed at content caching for 5G networks and shiny new Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) deployments. The system promises to spin up caching for mobile networks when needed, in a dynamic fashion, and then spin it back down again, which sounds like a rather MNO-friendly option for QoE concerns. Put simply, this sounds like a way to bring the scalability sales pitch seen in cloud computing to the CDN realm, and specifically to mobile networks that are much more likely to suffer at the ends of a shift in demand.
